Back in March this happened to me. I figured I should tell everyone what happened.
I loved my 360, sure it had Red Ring of Death 6 times but hey, I kept on supporting them. Sure, I was angry but I was happy they fixed my problem every time, free of charge.
Recently my AIM E-mail was hacked; I got it back and deleted it. No need for it anymore, I made a new Gmail account.
Since I deleted my AIM E-mail account, my Windows live ID linked to my Gamertag no longer existed.
I got on my 360, and found out my Gamertag didn't have a WLID attached to it, but I could still play Xbox live. But, it didn't allow me to change my WLID associated with it, as I made a new one with my Gmail account.
I called Microsoft.
I was on the phone for roughly three hours in the span of two days, they told me to SIGN OUT of Xbox live and do a system restore on my console, I now could not sign back into Xbox live, it told me to add a WLID to it, I tried again and again. It didn't work.
I told them about my AIM E-mail problem, they assumed my Gamertag was hacked. I told them countless times "No." they never understood my story, they asked if I used my gamertag anywhere else besides Xbox.com I said "No."
They would call me in two weeks.
I e-mailed them over and over again telling them It was NOT hacked, they said this back to me "I understand your frustration over your account being hacked"
They finally got back to me with a phone call. The lady said "Hi Doug, we are sorry but your account is corrupted and we're giving you a year of Xbox live and 1600 Microsoft points" I ask the lady "So, I lose all my gamesaves and achievements?"
She repeated herself.
I was ENRAGED. I handed the phone to my girlfriend at the time, they said the same thing. They told her they DELETED my account because they messed it up. My Ex. Girlfriend also informed them I had a 3 month of Xbox live Gold attached to my one year of gold. They refused to refund that, and only giving me a one year.
They told me they could do nothing for me, as they deleted my account.
All I wanted to do was add my new WLID E-mail address to my Gamertag.
It didn't happen, they didn't do it. They deleted my account.
They lost a customer, I'm now selling my 360 with EVERYTHING I ever bought it for. I put over 2,500 dollars into that thing.
I switched my E-mail with Sony in two minutes.
Goodbye Microsoft, hello Sony.
-Doug
