When I received my NES for Christmas when I was young and it included a slew of games. The favorite of most people was Super Mario Bros., but not me. My favorite game in that box was a game called Anticipation.
Anticipation is subtitled “Nintendo’s First Video Board Game” and that’s exactly what it is. The game is a variation of Pictionary. There are 3-4 game boards, depending on your difficulty, that have squares of four colors. Each color refers to a different topic and when you land on a color a picture is drawn and you have to guess what it is. Whoever guesses correctly earns that color, once you collect all the colors of the board you advance to the next level.
The difficulty curve has a nice slope. The early puzzles are basically connect the dots while the later ones are without dots. The only downside to the difficulty curve is that once you’ve been playing a bit, you learn the layout of the dots or the starting few lines.
