As I'm sure everyone saw, Activision has just shut down the studios who create Guitar Hero.
It's such a relief to finally not see 32 Guitar Hero games in one year, but it's also sad being as it's an end of an era. A very short lived era. When I first got Guitar Hero 2 it was like some obsession. I would hang out with all my buddies and just sit around my TV and play these songs on a fake plastic little guitar on my PS2. Even kids I hung out with that actually played real guitar and were good at it, would own Guitar Hero and play it non stop. It was such an exciting and fresh idea.
And now, it's coming to an end. The last music game I really got into was GH Metallica. I turned more into a Rock Band person for sure, but that GH game was what I always wanted. When I sold my 360 I lose all my music games and plastic instruments. I miss it from time to time, mainly all the good memories playing Rock Band with everyone, but If I were to get another music game it would be GH Metallica. I love playing the drums with the double kick pedal.
Activision needs to stop destroying franchises. First Tony Hawk, now Guitar Hero. Call of duty, you're next!

They should have put solid time into developing one game, not band based. Then, heavily support it with cheap, really cheap, DLC songs. Also I wouldn't have minded some character creation. I know, I might as well play Rock Band at that point, but Guitar Hero was my first music game. I am saddened to see it go and hope that it may be resurrected someday.
ReplyDeleteI definitely have a lot of good memories with Guitar Hero, and I wouldn't mind the series to come back. They just need to think of something for people to get excited about music games again.
