I think this article is a really interesting look back on Shattered Memories, but also at the same time, a neat look back into the horror genre in general. It also reminds me of one thing that makes me sad about the gaming community in general - we always want things to change.... by not changing.
When we go on and on how we want our series to freshen up, and change pace, we should be glad that the company takes the risk. In the case of Silent Hill - if it doesn't have rusty corridors and Pyramid Head, then we must hate it right? Change isn't always good, I'll give you that, but when we complain that the same stuff isn't in our games (like fighting Ganon in almost every Zelda game), it's our fault games can't prosper into something else.
I'm hoping that with the next few reboots scheduled for later one like the new Tomb Raider, we can get a better perspective on this as a whole.
