One thing I have been meaning to post and kept forgetting about is this - keeping your momentum in your stance transitions in shooters.
It's a really nice feature that is slowly making it's way into games, but I just don't understand how this isn't commonplace now. Example - Medal of Honor's multiplayer was criticized for not having the slide when ducking during sprint for the simple fact that it's a really good way to get that boost to cover. When you are sprinting to a location in most games, and you have some dudes shooting at you, your first reaction is to always drop low. However, it's really frustrating when all your guys does is lose his speed and drop stance.
Because then you get shot.
A lot more games have been putting this in their games; Call of Duty: Black Ops had guys diving from sprint, which really felt nice, and even Socom 4 implemented this as well. And the nice thing is that these games are taking that mechanic and putting it in their online as well.
Games like Gears of War and even Uncharted give your guy a quick boost when going for cover to keep the momentum going, and it even adds to the pacing of the action. It's very hard for me not to take issue with this whole thing, and I'm glad I keep seeing it in newer releases like Killzone 3 and even Battlefield 3 Later this year. I feel as if all games need to get that flow down as it just makes perfect sense.
Just some thoughts here, let me know what you think
