Handheld vs Mobil gaming

Can we just stop the debate? These things are allowed to co-exist. While mobile gaming is one the rise, handheld gaming is still going strong with a focus on more dedicated content. Granted there are games out there that should not be $40 because they are just like their mobile brothers and should cost more around a few bucks, but as a whole, you don't get experiences like Kingdom Hearts and Peace Walker on a phone. Now, I do admit there are game like Infinity Blade and the Dead Space game that prove that mobile gaming can be quite amazing, but just because you can play that on your iPad doesn't mean that your 3DS or Vita is super worthless.

I will say that we need a better pricing for some of the software on these dedicated devices though. I should not be paying 40 dollars for a 12 dollar Wiiware game for example, but that's also why they have a download infrastructure for cheaper games that appeal to that sort of market. Granted Sony will probably do better at this than Nintendo, but both companies will have those cheap few dollar games like Angry Birds to keep you going for cheap.

A lot of people will also complain about carrying around a lot of devices but seriously guys, that's just a tad silly. It is more convenient to have just the one device, I'll give you that for sure, its nice, but is it so bad that you may have to have your 3DS to play your Zelda game?

just some random thoughts because I think this whole thing is dumb

  1. I agree whole-heartedly! It seems like this is being forced into a war like the hd-dvd and bluray, but handheld vs mobile is feeling like it's just for the sport of argument. Both mobile and handheld gaming has their individual pros and cons for different reasons and I think the population should just let it be.
