It's nice to see the Video Game Awards show continue to improve year after year. This was by far the best year yet and I was able to sit through the entire show without cringing or hiding my face behind a pillow out of sheer embarrassment.
The stupid, irrelevant guests were kept to a minimum, the flow was solid, the show was entertaining overall (the tea-bagging solider, while funny, was not really a step in the right direction towards a more mature awards show), and having Miyamoto in attendance was not only a huge score, but also added a whole new layer of legitimacy to the show. One thing I would like to see next year is more emphasis on the awards, since it is, well, an awards show. There were a few award winners that I would have liked to have seen actually on stage instead of simply mentioned in a fast-talking segment while the show headed to commercial. But there is always next year!
And the best part of this years show? Not a single cast member from The Jersey Shore in sight!
