Small Changes - Major Difference

I have been playing a lot of King of Fighters stuff lately - even just fighting games in general - and it's always interesting to feel out the different versions.  I've mainly been playing KoF Xi-Xiii, and even in those three, every single one feels like KoF, but VERY different.

It's not really just evolving the series or anything, it's just that each game tries to go about itself in a different way. Characters have different move sets, there are specials that differ in each one, and slight mechanical changes make each one worth switching back and forth from.

I feel that you know when a fighting game can hold the test of time; it just keeps feeling solid while the years go on.  I have a feeling that in the next few generations, I will still come back to KoF XI, still romp around in Street Fighter 3/4, and they will still be solid games.

Just some random thoughts while kicking it with KoF, and also, don't forget - the Fighting Game Tournament (still needs awesome name) is still in the works.  So let me know in the comments below which games you would like seen thrown in the mix!
