Is it just me, or is the whole Call of Duty series starting to REALLY feel like a bad Mario Kart game? Think about it - what makes Call of Duty feel somewhat overwhelming and unbalanced? The perks. What does the same in Mario Kart? All the new stupid items they keep adding to "balance out the races". There are so many perks and killstreaks in Call of Duty that I'm starting to feel like I'll be getting hit by blue turtle shells in the next installment.
The latest leak from Kotaku is talking about not only adding new killstreaks to the mix (although dropping tactical nuke) but also so many class perks to make those streaks immune while adding the idea of "team perks". Now, those are not quite explained yet, but I just can't shake the feeling of the previous paragraph.
I feel like Call of Duty really needs to start simplifying their set-up. Its getting very convoluted and overwhelming and at the same time I feel like it's also losing it's balance and core excitement. The last time we really got any innovation was in CoD4; and outside of that, Black Ops actually brought some neat ideas in some of their modes (Gun Game), just failed to nail the core experience.
Here's hoping they get it right, but with these latest leaks, I just don't see it getting any better.
