So Microsoft announced today that the Xbox One will no longer require the Kinect to be functional. Of course this has everyone saying "now drop the price down and give me a bundle without Kinect and we are talkin'!"
I for one, don't think this is what it seems at the surface like the rest I guess.
To me, this just sounds like PR spin. Ok, yeah, you now don't have to have the Kinect plugged in for the Xbox One to work - what does that mean? It just means that - doesn't mean they will not drop their whole plan to have Kinect be an integral of their philosophy; this sounds more like them warding off the people who think that the Kinect is always watching you! (as if their smart phones and everything else haven't been doing the same thing here...)
So, basically, I just think this is them fighting off those crazy people who are worried about being spied on, and not us getting a Kinect-less bundle or anything to that effect.
