Total sales of video game hardware, software and accessories topped off at $1.03 billion for June 2011, down from $1.15 billion from June last year. The 360 was once again the console king for the month, and according to Microsoft, moved a whopping 507,000 units. Sony moved 276,000 PS3 systems and Nintendo added another 273,000 Wiis into people's homes. For a quiet month, I feel that these are still impressive numbers, especially for the 360. Half a million consoles during the month of June in nothing to sneeze at.
L.A. Noire, Duke Nukem Forever (yes, you read that correctly) and Infamous 2 round out the top three for June software sales. The top ten are as follows:
- L.A. Noire (360, PS3)
- Duke Nukem Forever (360, PS3, PC)
- Infamous 2 (PS3)
- Lego Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game (Wii, 360, NDS, PS3, 3DS, PSP, PC)
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (3DS)
- Call of Duty: Black Ops (360, PS3, Wii, NDS, PC)
- NBA 2K11 (360, PS3, Wii, PS2, PSP, PC)
- Mortal Kombat (PS3, 360)
- Cars 2 (NDS, Wii, 360, PS3, PC)
- Just Dance 2 (Wii)
Just Dance 2 simply will not die, eh?
